Day 92 Eastern Tent Caterpillar Tent

The cycle begins again. Last year, I watched one of these caterpillars turn into a moth with great delight. The photos from that experience are here:

I’m still trying to get a proper identification of this tree. I was told it was a cherry tree which would make sense as cherry trees are part of the Eastern Tent Caterpillar’s diet; but the blossoms are not like those of the traditional cherry tree. The berries are also much smaller and black or a dark bluish-purple, if I remember correctly. The blossoms are very distinctive, but I have yet to find a good website to help in the identification of trees.
